Volunteers Needed

Near Downtown Albuquerque.

We have an incredibly successful program working with very young children and their families to help them become rehoused after a period of homelessness—but we need more helping hands.

Once you visit with the children you'll want to help them thrive. Loving arms are needed to hold, rock and read to these wonderful children. So if you’re aged 16 -160, we'll welcome you with open arms. Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (6:30pm on the 2 nd and 4 th Thursdays). We also need generous folks to work in our kitchen, offices, playgrounds and yards. And of course we need people who know how to fix things!

What qualifications are needed to volunteer at CLN? The first requirement to volunteer at Cuidando Los Niños is an interest in giving back to your community. After that, there are just a few steps that you need to take, which will be described and completed during a short, informal volunteer interview. This process includes a brief application, three personal references, a Tuberculosis Test (required by the State's Children, Youth and Families Department for anyone in contact with children on a licensed facility), and an agreement to maintain certain self-explanatory, yet necessary, CLN policies, such as maintaining confidentiality and boundaries, and working within our ethical code. Additionally, you may be required to complete a background check to perform certain tasks, but usually only when you volunteer in excess of eight hours per week.

What volunteer opportunities are available at Cuidando Los Niños?

Nursery, Toddler Room, or Preschool Room Aide

Many of those wishing to volunteer with CLN do so in order to have direct contact with the children we serve. You can help the teachers in any of the three classrooms by serving lunch, putting the children down for their nap, or just playing with the kids!

Kichen Aide

Cuidando Los Niños boasts the ability to serve our children two hot nutritious meals per day, as well as a snack- and it doesn't prepare itself! You can help by assisting our Food Service Coordinator in preparing meals, cleaning up, even shopping!

Groundskeeper/ Maintenance Worker

We take pride in the appearance of our grounds, and it shows! You can come to our facility and work on landscaping, yard cleanup, organize our sheds, and just tidy up in general. We have a long history of collaborations with the community in this respect, so come and join the fun!

Special Events/Projects Workers

Cuidando Los Niños is constantly seeking new ways to raise community awareness and funds so that we can continue providing the much-needed services to the Albuquerque community. It might be a fashion show, a networking event, an outdoor festival, or a table at a community celebration; in any case we are always looking for volunteers to act as "Community Ambassadors" to spread our message and drum up support for the organization.

Office Worker

As you might imagine, the amount of paperwork that accumulates in an organization that serves the community is astounding! CLN is always looking for help in the office to handle the filing, shredding, and organizational duties that we oftentimes find ourselves unable to handle.

Cuidando Los Niños has extensive needs, many of which can be met through generous donations of goods from members of our community. Each of our programs needs specific items in order to function, such as diapers, food, and office supplies. By providing such goods, you will be assisting us by lowering our costs, thus freeing up funds for more specific projects, such as literacy needs and transportation.
